Our cashmere
The choice of raw materials is the core of our business. Through careful production and only working with high-quality fibres, we can create products that last over time.
Our cashmere wool is sourced from cashmere goats from Inner Mongolia. The goats roam free on the pasture and are taken care of by local shepherds. As the hot summer season approaches, and it's time to cut the wool, the goats graze on the shepherds' farms.
All our yarn is OEKO-TEX® certified. It is important to us that you as a customer feel safe when buying and wearing our products.
Inner Mongolia is characterised by a harsh climate, causing the goats to develop a dense undercoat that insulates them from the heat and the cold, no matter the weather. This makes cashmere a great, long-lasting natural fabric, suitable for all seasons and retaining its quality for many years to come. It will keep you warm when it is chilly, or cool you down when it is too warm. It's also an incredibly soft material that's comfortable to wear.
All the yarn Davida uses is OEKO-TEX® certified. It is important to us that you as a customer feel safe when buying and wearing our products.
Cashmere glossary
OEKO-TEX®
OEKO-TEX® is a certification that guarantees that our products maintain the standard according to the safety standard for textile and clothing manufacturing. It also means that we maintain high human ecological requirements in our production.
A, B, and C class
Cashmere fibres can be divided into classes A, B and C depending on their length and thickness. A rule of thumb is that the longer and thinner the thread, the higher the quality of the finished product. Davida's cashmere is class A.
Gauge
Gauge (gg) is a measure of the number of stitches or rows per inch. In general, the higher the number of gauge, the thinner the sweater. Davida offers sweaters in 3gg, 5gg, 7gg, 12gg and 16gg.
